About The Position
BlueLinx is seeking a dedicated Material Handler / Forklift Operator to work at its distribution center. The role supports the distribution of building and industrial products in a team-oriented environment that prioritizes safety and quality service. The position pays $20.76 per hour, subject to local minimum wage requirements and compensation factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location.
Requirements
- One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
- Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to work independently at times and under pressure.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
- Safe work record and stable work history.
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift in accordance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
- Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
- Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and bulk materials.
- Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
