Smithfield is seeking a skilled Master Electrician to join their maintenance team at a meat packaging facility. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Master Electrician Certification with the State of Minnesota.
  • Ability to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/training manuals written in English.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
  • Ability to be obtain Lockout/Tagout and Hazmat certification and be trained in Confined Space procedures.
  • Employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Displays sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • BS degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in the food industry.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, services, and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wiring.
  • Operates power and hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
  • Installs, services, and repairs specialized electrical equipment.
  • Constructs and maintains service equipment.
  • Reads electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Requisitions materials and supplies from the stockroom and recommends purchases.
  • Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
  • Installs conductors, splices cables, builds terminations, and performs necessary hook-ups for primary power lines.
  • May perform other trades work incidental to electrical work.
  • Performs work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Performs skilled work demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency.
  • Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
  • Repairs malfunctions by replacing burned-out elements, fuses, and defective wiring, and by cleaning and repairing motors.
  • Tests electrical equipment, such as motors, heaters, and controls, for safety and efficiency using standard test equipment and by observing functions.
  • Inspects circuits for specified shielding and grounding.
  • Performs other duties as required by manager and/or supervisor.
  • Follows all company safety protocols, including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures.
  • Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment.
