About The Position

Smithfield is seeking a skilled Master Electrician to join their maintenance team at a meat packaging facility. The role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant's electrical systems, equipment, and machinery. This position requires adherence to company safety protocols, including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment. The Master Electrician's skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to the success of the team and the plant.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Master Electrician Certification with the State of Minnesota.
Ability to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/training manuals.
Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
Ability to be obtain Lockout/Tagout and Hazmat certification and be trained in Confined Space procedures.
Employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Displays sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

BS degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience working in the food industry.
Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift.

Responsibilities

Installs, services, and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wiring.
Operates power and hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
Installs, services, and repairs specialized electrical equipment.
Constructs and maintains service equipment.
Reads electrical circuit diagrams.
Requisitions materials and supplies from the stockroom and recommends purchases.
Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
Installs conductors, splices cables, builds terminations, and performs necessary hook-ups for primary power lines.
May perform other trades work incidental to electrical work.
Performs work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
Performs skilled work demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency.
Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
Repairs malfunctions by replacing burned-out elements, fuses, and defective wiring, and by cleaning and repairing motors.
Tests electrical equipment, such as motors, heaters, and controls, for safety and efficiency using standard test equipment and by observing functions.
Inspects circuits for specified shielding and grounding.
Performs other duties as required by manager and/or supervisor.
