About The Position

A Maintenance Electrician is responsible for planning and installing electrical systems, performing and overseeing servicing, and managing tools and equipment. This role involves routine inspections of electrical equipment, wiring, and fixtures to ensure functionality, identify hazards, and perform necessary repairs. The electrician will diagnose malfunctions, test systems, interpret blueprints, and provide recommendations for equipment replacement. Maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repair work, managing supplies, and ensuring scheduled maintenance are key aspects of the position to minimize risks and costs. The role also requires keeping the work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance or associated work.
  • Familiar with the National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures, and other components routinely to ensure functionality, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with codes.
  • Determine the cause of system or component malfunctions and develop a maintenance or repair plan.
  • Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment, and other components to maintain full operational capacity.
  • Test systems using devices like voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to ensure safety and component compatibility.
  • Review blueprints to understand wiring placement and equipment operation for service and repair.
  • Provide recommendations on the lifespan of equipment and electrical components, advising on necessary replacements.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work, including supplies ordered and used.
  • Ensure routine maintenance is performed on schedule to reduce the risk of complex issues and costs.
  • Keep work areas orderly and clean.
