About The Position
The Massage Therapist provides professional, personalized massage services to promote relaxation, stress relief, health, and wellness. The therapist uses a range of massage techniques to tailor treatments to clients’ needs and preferences, while delivering an exceptional guest experience in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The position is based at The Spa Loews Arlington, located in the Loews Arlington Hotel. The role requires maintaining treatment rooms and work areas to health and safety standards, keeping accurate service and client-preference records, following facility policies and confidentiality guidelines, and staying current with industry trends, continuing education, and licensing requirements. The work takes place in a spa, clinic, or wellness center and may involve exposure to oils, lotions, and low lighting. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required depending on client scheduling.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited massage therapy program.
- Valid state license and/or certification in massage therapy.
- Proficiency in a range of massage techniques and therapies.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to assess client needs and customize services accordingly.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform physical work, including bending, lifting, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of hands-on massage therapy experience is preferred; recent graduates may be considered depending on the role and training.
Responsibilities
- Perform massage techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage, selecting modalities according to client needs and preferences.
- Consult with clients to understand their wellness goals and tailor treatments accordingly.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and treatment rooms in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Keep accurate records of services provided and client preferences for future visits.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner to create a relaxing and respectful environment.
- Recommend additional treatments or wellness products based on client needs.
- Adhere to appointment schedules and manage time effectively to avoid delays.
- Stay current with industry trends, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
- Follow facility policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
