Marketplace Operations Lead

Turing•Palo Alto, CA
•$150,000 - $230,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Marketplace Operations Lead manages Turing’s most challenging talent-hiring requests, including US-based roles, unfamiliar role types, and large, urgent hiring pushes. The role coordinates sourcing, assessment, talent operations, and onboarding to deliver talent by committed deadlines, and takes ownership of recovery plans when hiring is at risk. This is a senior individual-contributor position with room to grow, based in Turing’s San Francisco or Palo Alto office. The Lead partners with matching teams across time zones and helps establish standards for planning, communication, and escalation. The role owns US-based hiring end to end, develops reusable playbooks for new role types, monitors hiring performance, and works hands-on with product and engineering teams to improve the matching platform and assessment tools. It reports to the Head of Platform Operations. The position is onsite in San Francisco or Palo Alto, with occasional travel. Compensation is $150,000–$230,000 plus equity.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly enough to evaluate what good performance looks like, including domains such as software engineering, medicine, or linguistics.
  • Excellent written and in-person communication, including the ability to give senior stakeholders and customers clear, concise updates when news is unfavorable.
  • Ability to work effectively with product and engineering teams, adopt developing tools, identify problems, and provide specific, useful feedback.
  • Comfort with data and ability to build reports using spreadsheets or SQL and manage work based on metrics.
  • High ownership and initiative, including stepping in when a process owned by someone else stalls.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work from the San Francisco or Palo Alto office.

  • Act as the escalation contact for project leaders, including outside normal hours when large hiring pushes require it.
  • Own US-based hiring end to end, from sourcing strategy through assessment to start date.
  • Take on new or unusual role types and create reusable playbooks for them.
  • Track and report time to first hire, hires against committed timelines, quality after start, and the number and duration of at-risk positions in a concise standard format.
  • Work hands-on with product and engineering teams on the matching platform, AI interviewer, and assessment tools; use the tools and provide specific feedback.
  • Improve team standards through clear processes, concise written updates, and in-the-moment coaching.
