About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Growth Marketing, the Marketing Manager is responsible for leading and shaping client-focused, innovative and impactful marketing strategies for Sun Life’s retail channels that deliver on business objectives. The company is seeking a highly motivated strategic thinker with a track record of making a measurable difference to business outcomes through innovative marketing experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and developing marketing teams, with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Minimum of eight to ten years of progressive marketing experience with proven abilities in digital marketing.
  • University or college degree in Marketing, Business or Communications.
  • Strong partnering approach to build and maintain relationships within Marketing and with key business partners.
  • Experience developing effective marketing strategies that drive measurable results through creative marketing ideas and solutions based on client and advisor insight.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply data and insights about client and advisor journeys to identify marketing and business opportunities, track and report marketing effectiveness metrics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdependent environment.
  • Experience leading digital marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Experience presenting to or partnering with senior leadership on marketing strategy and results.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Experience with Lean continuous improvement discipline.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry, clients, products, services, distribution channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of annual and quarterly marketing objectives and key result targets by providing ideas and marketing solutions that align current marketing approaches with our understanding of client and advisor needs and behaviour.
  • Build and maintain relationships within Marketing and with key business partners to own the identification of client and business problems and root causes that marketing strategies can measurably address.
  • Proactively identify ways for the business to gain competitive advantage through marketing opportunities including digital solutions, paid and earned media, that drive leads and sales.
  • Develop relevant marketing documentation (strategy, briefs, results including metrics and success measures).
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to produce best-in-class effective marketing outputs.
  • Direct creative and content teams on content themes, communication strategies and program plans to deploy via electronic, web, print or video media.
  • Report on program or campaign successes with relevant data, insights and benchmarks.
  • Drive alignment and accountability across stakeholders and business partners, including adherence to key messages and positioning and Sun Life brand standards.
  • Think strategically, while being willing and able to roll up your sleeves to support the implementation of integrated marketing programs from conception through to completion.
