About The Position

The Joe’s Pub Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of marketing strategies for Joe’s Pub’s 600+ performances each year, and three Artist Development Programs. They will play a singular role in advertising, multi-channel marketing, paid social media advertising, and developing marketing plans. The Marketing & Communications Manager will be adept at enhancing audience engagement and ensuring a consistent and compelling brand message, and will manage the growth and development of Joe’s Pub Fellow.

Requirements

  • 5+ years marketing and project management experience
  • highly organized, detail-oriented and systematic with strong time management skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly copywriting and editing.
  • Proficiency with programs within Microsoft Office suite; Canva; Tessitura; CMS; Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Social media platforms required, including but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, and Upscrolled, as well as analyzing social media metrics and advertising.
  • Have a working knowledge of New York City music/arts scene and be a self-motivated, creative, forward thinker.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue unconventional marketing opportunities: unexpected platforms, cultural moments, and collaborators
  • Build and sustain advertising and promotional trade partnerships with other cultural institutions and media outlets
  • Meet earned revenue goals by implementing marketing strategies to drive ticket sales
  • Manage extensive approval processes through the larger organization
  • Lead and conceptualize institutional press strategy
  • Manage a team of external press consultants
  • Compile and distribute assets for institutional, genre-based, and show-specific press releases
  • Approve and edit press materials for institutional and show-based PR
  • Produce annual media dinner
  • Book press tickets and manage notification of artists and restaurant staff of press in attendance at shows
  • Lead digital marketing strategy
  • Manage a team of external digital media consultants
  • Set budget and strategy for digital advertising
  • Lead relationships with digital advertising partners and manage Joe’s Pub presence on these platforms
  • Approve / manage / populate Joe’s Pub social media calendar
  • Create, schedule, and distribute all eblasts
  • Collaborate with The Public Theater’s Brand Studio on the design of Joe’s Pub digital and print promotional branding
  • Write / edit all copy for digital and print promotional branding
  • Manage distribution of digital and print promo materials to artists and promotional partners
  • Produce photoshoots for Joe’s Pub artist development programs, including booking photographers and hair and makeup teams, scheduling, and on-site management
  • Cultivate, manage and book team of House Photographer contractors, distribute selects, manage photo catalogue
  • Utilize audience insights to inform strategic decisions
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, ticket sales trends, and audience behavior
  • Collaborate with external partners on focus group and primary research relevant to ticket buyers
  • Regularly report on eblast performance, digital media performance, and other metrics
  • Represent Joe’s Pub in organization-wide digital and web projects
  • Partner with the Public Theater’s web team to manage Joe’s Pub web pages
  • Edit and review each artist’s performance page
  • Troubleshoot web issues
  • Build, manage, and edit landing pages for Joe’s Pub artist development programs, seasonal events, other programs, and special projects
  • Collaborate with The Public Theater’s ticketing and web teams to lead and/or manage announcements, rolling weekly show on-sales and scheduled on-sales for select shows
  • Copywriting and execution of all messaging to ticket buyers in the event of scheduling changes or cancellations
  • Collaborate with The Public Theater’s Development, Special Events, WebDev and Marketing teams regularly
  • Collaborate with The Public Theater’s ticketing team to distribute messages to ticket buyers about scheduling changes or cancellations

Benefits

  • The salary for this position begins at $72,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
