About The Position

The Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) is seeking a creative, organized, and driven professional to serve as Marketing & Activation Specialist. This role plays a central part in promoting downtown Spokane through marketing campaigns, digital communications, community engagement, and downtown activations. The Marketing & Activation Specialist supports the organization’s efforts to enhance the vibrancy, visibility, and economic vitality of downtown Spokane. The position is responsible for executing digital marketing initiatives, managing online platforms, supporting promotional campaigns, coordinating events and activations, and amplifying the stories, businesses, and experiences that make downtown Spokane unique. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role that works closely with businesses, community partners, event organizers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys both creative and operational work, and is excited about helping shape the downtown experience. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of major initiatives and grow alongside a department focused on elevating DSP’s visibility, storytelling, and downtown activation efforts.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital campaigns
  • Experience coordinating events, activations, or public programming
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, social media management platforms, WordPress, email marketing systems, and graphic design tools preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, event coordination, destination marketing, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage DSP social media platforms and digital communications
  • Develop and maintain content calendars
  • Create engaging written, graphic, and visual content
  • Manage email newsletters and website updates
  • Monitor analytics and campaign performance
  • Lead coordination and execution of downtown activations and events
  • Support DSP signature events and stakeholder gatherings
  • Coordinate vendors, permits, logistics, and event setup
  • Work collaboratively with community partners and event organizers
  • Promote downtown businesses, events, and initiatives
  • Support campaign development and promotional strategies
  • Maintain digital asset libraries and marketing materials
  • Build relationships with downtown stakeholders and partners
  • Amplify downtown promotions and community initiatives
  • Support outreach and collaborative projects
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that strengthen DSP’s marketing presence, downtown programming, and public engagement strategies
