About The Position

Byrne & Jones Construction, a recognized leader in commercial asphalt and heavy civil construction, is expanding its Kansas City operation. This is a rare opportunity for a high-impact leader to build and scale a market from the ground up while shaping the organization's long-term trajectory. We are seeking a Market Leader to serve as the senior executive responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and market presence in the Kansas City region. This role carries full accountability for business performance, team development, and strategic execution, while partnering closely with executive leadership to advance the company’s broader Midwest expansion strategy.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction operations or project management
  • Proven ability to drive business growth, manage operations, and lead teams in a construction environment
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships and developing new business opportunities

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute a comprehensive market growth strategy, including client development, brand positioning, and revenue expansion
  • Own full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and achieving targeted financial outcomes
  • Partner with executive leadership to define long-term operational goals and regional growth initiatives
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor project managers and operational staff to create a strong, accountable leadership pipeline
  • Implement scalable systems and processes that drive efficiency, productivity, and consistent project execution
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with owners, partners, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure successful delivery of all projects with a focus on quality, safety, schedule, and profitability
  • Establish performance metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into operational effectiveness and continuous improvement
  • Identify and implement initiatives that enhance operational performance, reduce cost, and increase output across the business
  • Uphold company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements across all operations
  • Partner with Human Resources to build a culture rooted in accountability, trust, and high performance aligned with company values
