About The Position

The Market Grille Cook prepares hot and cold menu items from prep through service, keeps the food case stocked, and prepares customer orders with care. The role provides friendly customer service, supports the Market Grille’s daily operation, and works with coworkers to deliver quality food and a positive customer experience. It is a fast-paced kitchen position that includes sanitation and cleaning duties, preparation for upcoming shifts, and assisting elsewhere in the store as needed. Training is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various situations.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
• Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
• Prepare cooking surfaces and menu items, including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods, and heat-and-eat items.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and replenish them as needed.
• Stay knowledgeable about menu items and take guest orders as needed.
• Prepare items for upcoming shifts.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Market Grille operations.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Order products and supplies as needed or notify department managers of supply needs.
• Work with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
