About The Position
Market Grille Clerks serve fresh, made-to-order food and create a welcoming experience for customers. They help keep department operations running smoothly by managing orders, handling and preparing food safely, maintaining product supplies and cleanliness, and working with coworkers to provide quality service. The position is suited to someone who enjoys working with food in a fast-paced environment and serving customers. The role is performed in a busy store kitchen. Training is provided, and employees may also assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and perform tasks involving a few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver a positive customer experience.
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Nice To Haves
- Prior food service experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
- Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, including taking product orders.
- Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare or replenish products as needed.
- Pull products from the cooler or freezer for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is available.
- Handle food safely and monitor food freshness and appearance.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area throughout the shift.
- Check in and put away products and review invoices as needed.
- Operate the department register, receive payments, and make change where applicable.
- Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as necessary.
- Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
- Work with coworkers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
- Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
