About The Position

Market Grille Clerks serve fresh, made-to-order food and create a welcoming experience for customers. They take and fulfill orders, handle food safely, maintain product supplies and freshness, and help keep the department clean and operating smoothly. The role involves working in a busy store kitchen as part of a team committed to quality, customer service, and a pleasant work environment. Training is provided.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a good customer experience.
No education requirement.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and help make each customer visit positive.
Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, including taking product orders.
Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish products as needed.
Pull products from the cooler or freezer for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is available.
Handle food safely and check food status and appearance for freshness.
Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout the shift.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and wash dishes as needed.
Price and order products and deliver orders as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
