About The Position
The Market Clerk sells sundries, Schweitzer-branded merchandise, ice cream, beer, bottled liquor, and other beverages. The position requires compliance with Idaho state laws regarding alcohol sales, and applicants must be at least 21 years old. The employee must be available to work weekends and holidays, and work hours extend past lift operations. This is a seasonal position offered as full-time or part-time work. The role involves providing customer service, verifying identification for alcohol purchases, handling and balancing cash, restocking merchandise, and keeping the work area clean and organized. The position requires standing or walking for up to 10 hours per shift and regularly lifting 25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays; work hours extend past lift operations.
- Able to stand or walk for up to 10 hours per shift.
- Able to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- English reading, writing, and communication skills.
- At least 6 months of experience in a cash-handling position, preferably in retail.
- Basic computer knowledge and comfort using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
- Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Training Certificate; the employer will help the employee acquire it.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Cash-handling experience in retail preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, outgoing, and professional customer service.
- Verify customers’ ages by checking identification for alcohol purchases.
- Proactively address operational needs with minimal supervision.
- Follow accurate cash-handling procedures and balance the cash till daily.
- Restock goods as needed.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and presentable to the public.
