About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for Marker-Grader positions within CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for CHEM 2P20 in the Fall D2 term. Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The specific rates are: Master’s Degree Complete ($36.00/hour), Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04/hour), Third Year Complete ($22.91/hour), Second Year Complete ($20.15/hour), and First Year Complete ($19.00/hour). The position is subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. As per Article 22.04 of the Collective Agreement, members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act. The Collective Agreement governs part-time Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Lab Demonstrator, Course Coordinator and Marker-Grader positions at Brock University.

Requirements

• Must have completed CHEM 2P20 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher.
• Graduate of or Major in Chemistry with a minimum major average of 75%.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
• Provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned, whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.
• Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
