About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker Grader for CHEM 1P00 for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. Marker-Graders are paid based on their qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026, ranging from $19.00/hour for first-year undergraduate completion to $36.00/hour for a completed Master's Degree. The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams. Marker-Graders are expected to provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, considering substantive content, written communication, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure. Additionally, they may be asked to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases at the request of the course instructor. Positions are subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. Members accepting this appointment must ensure it does not exceed the maximum regular hours allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act.

Requirements

• Must have completed CHEM 1P00 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher.
• Graduate of or Major in Chemistry with a minimum major average of 75%.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset.
