About The Position

Brock University is seeking Marker-Graders for the COSC 3P03 Algorithms course for the Fall 2026 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Compensation is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates ranging from $19.00/hour for first-year undergraduate completion to $36.00/hour for a completed Master's degree. These rates are effective September 1, 2026. The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing constructive written feedback to students. Additionally, marker-graders may be required to invigilate exams and enter grades into databases. All employees are required to work on campus as needed.

Requirements

• Must have completed COSC 3P03 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher.
• Graduate of or Major in Computer Science with a minimum major average of 75%.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
• Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
• Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course, at the request of the course instructor.
• Enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
