About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker-Grader for the PSYC 4P79 Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy course for the Winter D3 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation for Marker-Grader positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The number of hours assigned and the total stipend will depend on course enrollment, which typically consists of 3 hours multiplied by the number of registered students. Duties include marking essays and/or assignments, and availability at the end of the term is required to mark papers within a constrained turnaround time.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Previous successful experience as a TA or Marker-Grader in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to mark papers within a constrained turn-around time.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Must be able to and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings and to conduct seminars and office hours via audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.

Responsibilities
