About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader position for the course PSYC 2P20, Cognition, in the Winter D3 term. Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The number of nominal hours assigned to a Marker-Grader may vary, and the total stipend will depend on course enrollment, calculated as 0.67 hours multiplied by the number of registered students. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement and include marking tests, exams, posters, and live poster presentations. Availability at the end of the term is required to mark exams within a constrained turn-around time.

Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Previous successful experience as a Lab Demonstrator in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the lab experiments to clearly explain during lab.
  • Must have strong experimental design skills.
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • Must have the interpersonal qualities to be supportive of students and effective in leading group discussion.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to cover the required course material during the available lab time.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Must be comfortable leading computer lab experiments.
  • Must be able and willing to present material/conduct seminars in-person.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students in-person and by email and audio-video conferencing.

For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course outline and grade summary from your student self-serve at that institution is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description.
