About The Position

Brock University is seeking Marker-Grader positions for the HLSC 3Q20 Fall D2 course. These positions are paid according to the qualifications of the employee, with rates varying based on degree completion (Master's, Undergraduate, Third Year Complete, Second Year Complete, First Year Complete). The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing written feedback to students. Additionally, marker-graders may be asked to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases. The positions are governed by the CUPE4207-1 Collective Agreement.

Requirements

• An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.

Nice To Haves

• Brock fourth year (honours) students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered if vacancies remain.
• Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset.
• Completion of this course within the last three years is an asset.
• Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support.
• Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.

Responsibilities

• Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
• Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
• Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course, if requested by the course instructor.
• Enter grades into databases, if requested by the course instructor.

• Paid according to qualifications (Master’s Degree Complete $36.00/hour, Undergraduate Degree Complete $31.04/hour, Third Year Complete $22.91/hour, Second Year Complete $20.15/hour, First Year Complete $19.00/hour).
