About The Position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine mechanical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm with over 60 years of experience, working in teams on exciting projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment. Marine mechanical engineers at Glosten design propulsion drivetrains, supporting auxiliary systems, life support, and safety systems for various vessels. We utilize advanced modeling methods and reality capture to develop full 3D machinery plant designs within virtual ships. Mechanical systems are increasingly integrated with modern control and automation systems, and we are at the forefront of developing marine vessels driven by initiatives for emissions reductions and efficiency improvements. Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and power train principles.
  • General knowledge of shipboard systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino3D, or equivalent CAD program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Unrestricted access to work in the United States or eligibility for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork are required.
  • Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or other experience with marine systems, piping system design, and/or vessel operations is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design propulsion drivetrains, supporting auxiliary systems, life support, and safety systems for all manner of vessels.
