About The Position

Glosten is seeking junior or entry-level marine mechanical engineers to join our marine engineering group. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm with over 60 years of experience, working in teams on unique and challenging marine projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment. Marine mechanical engineers at Glosten design propulsion drivetrains, supporting auxiliary systems, life support, and safety systems for various vessels. We utilize advanced modeling methods and reality capture to develop full 3D machinery plant designs within virtual ships. Our work integrates mechanical systems with modern control and automation systems, and we are actively involved in developing next-generation ships with a focus on emissions reductions and efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and power train principles.
  • General knowledge of shipboard systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino3D, or equivalent CAD program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (unrestricted access or eligible for TN visas).
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork.
  • Ability to obtain a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card if required for project assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience with marine systems.
  • Coursework or experience with piping system design.
  • Coursework or experience with vessel operations.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design propulsion drivetrains, supporting auxiliary systems, life support, and safety systems for vessels.
  • Develop full 3D machinery plant designs inside virtual ships using advanced modeling methods and reality capture.
  • Integrate mechanical systems with modern control and automation systems.
  • Contribute to the development of marine vessels focused on emissions reductions and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate within teams to accomplish exciting projects.
  • Take on clients' problems as our own and cultivate long-term client relationships.
