About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Technician to support our growing marine and power generation service operations throughout Southern California. We are open to candidates based in either the El Cajon or Long Beach, CA markets, with the work arrangement and travel expectations varying by location. Candidates based in El Cajon will primarily work from our El Cajon workshop when not supporting field service activities and can expect up to 50% travel. Candidates based in the Long Beach region will work in a primarily field-based capacity, with most service activity taking place throughout the greater Long Beach/Los Angeles and Southern California marine markets, and can expect up to 80% travel. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong service professional who enjoys a combination of hands-on troubleshooting, repair, customer interaction, and field service work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in marine engine repair
  • Strong laptop/PC skills for diagnostics and software applications.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and read service manuals.
  • Fluent with the use of multi-meters and electronic troubleshooting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (technical schooling is a plus).
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insured.
  • Valid passport, or the ability to obtain a passport.
  • Own set of mechanic tools.
  • Ability to complete company-provided manufacturer training (online and in person).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MTU, John Deere, CAT, Cummins, FTP and Volvo Penta (preferred)
  • Experience with MTU MCS/RCS electronics and Diasys software (preferred).
  • A passion for working within a cross-functional team environment in a dynamic industry.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with marine clients, supporting our company’s continued growth domestically and internationally.
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on MTU engines in various marine applications.
  • Conduct sea trials and verify engine performance, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain service records and documentation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice marine technicians.
  • Travel within the assigned region and occasionally outside the area, including potential international assignments.
