Manufacturing & Process Engineer

Standard Bots•Glen Cove, NY
•$150,000 - $180,000•Onsite

About The Position

Standard Bots is hiring a Manufacturing & Process Engineer to own and improve how its AI-native industrial robots are built. The role covers process design, production tooling and fixtures, assembly and test processes, and ongoing improvements to quality, cost, yield, and cycle time. The work is based at the company’s factory in Glen Cove, New York, and is on-site five days a week. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manufacturing & Process Engineering Manager. The engineer will work closely with product, mechanical engineering, quality, and production teams. The position offers ownership over assigned processes as production scales.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a hardware production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field.
  • Hands-on production-level experience with DFM/DFA, fixture design, and process documentation.
  • CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar tools for fixture and tooling design.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis and lean or continuous improvement methods.
  • At least one measurable quality or throughput improvement that the candidate scoped and delivered.
  • Comfort working on the shop floor every day in an environment where processes are still being developed.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in robotics, automation hardware, or complex electromechanical assembly.
  • Experience scaling from low-volume prototype to higher-volume production.
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, or SPC.
  • Exposure to sheet metal, machined components, PCB assembly, or mixed-process manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with MES, ERP, or manufacturing data systems.
  • Basic scripting or data analysis skills, such as Python, SQL, or advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in DFM/DFA reviews with product and mechanical engineering, providing concrete feedback on assemblability, tolerances, and cost.
  • Design, build, and validate fixtures, tooling, and workstations for robot assembly and test.
  • Own process flow for assigned assemblies and support new product introduction as products move from prototype to production.
  • Identify automation opportunities in assembly, test, and material handling, and build the case for worthwhile investments.
  • Improve yield, cycle time, and first-pass quality on assigned stations and lines.
  • Perform root cause analysis on defects and nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.
  • Contribute to PFMEAs and control plans and incorporate shop-floor learnings into them.
  • Use time studies, capacity analysis, and lean tools such as 5S/6S, standard work, and value stream mapping to reduce waste.
  • Write and maintain work instructions, routings, and BOM accuracy for assigned processes.
  • Track process metrics, including capability, yield, and cycle time, and report them weekly.

Benefits

  • Employee stock options for all full-time employees.
  • Paid time off.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance.
  • Disability insurance.
  • 401(k).
