About The Position

Blue Origin Operations is hiring Manufacturing Engineers II/III to support manufacturing and supply chain across its facilities. These positions are located in Space Coast, Florida, and involve multiple shifts and openings; relocation is available. The role supports industrialization of products including solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, harnessing, GNC, thermal systems, and structures. Engineers translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes and contribute to design for manufacturability, assembly, and test. They work with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams, and help develop and implement manufacturing technologies and methods. The work must meet applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001, and the rigor required for human spaceflight hardware. Candidates must meet the stated U.S. citizenship or immigration eligibility requirements and be able to work second shift, with flexibility to move shifts and work extended hours if required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant field, from an accredited university.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
  • At least 1 year of experience creating English work instructions.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to work second shift, flexibility to move shifts as needed, and willingness to work extended hours if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in avionics, wire harnessing, GNC hardware, thermal systems, test, or orbital tube welding.
  • Fiber optics experience in harnessing or GNC.
  • Proficiency in Creo or a comparable CAD tool for tooling and fixture design.
  • Experience performing engineering analysis to support tooling, fixtures, or process development.
  • Experience with human-rated or safety-critical hardware and understanding of human spaceflight rigor.
  • Hands-on engineering, fabrication, or home-build projects.
  • Experience with high-rate aerospace and/or automotive assembly lines.
  • Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing fundamentals, including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with bills of materials and BOM reconciliation.
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality standards.
  • Specialty depth in avionics box build, integration, and test; wire harness design-to-build, fabrication, and test; test-procedure development, test equipment, and integration and test; thermal hardware manufacturing and process development; GNC hardware manufacturing and integration; or orbital tube welding process development, qualification, and production support.

Responsibilities

  • Support industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, harnessing, GNC, thermal systems, and structures.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT).
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement manufacturing technologies and methods, including composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, orbital welding, and advanced assembly.
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product nonconformances, and develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, and recommendations clearly to audiences at every level and drive them to resolution.
  • Ensure work meets applicable quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001, and the rigor required for human spaceflight hardware.
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction.
