About The Position

Ford Motor Company is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for its Body Shop team. The role provides manufacturing engineering leadership throughout new-model development, from initial concept through launch at a final assembly facility. The engineer applies lean manufacturing principles to develop efficient, high-quality processes and products; leads virtual manufacturing assembly builds; resolves manufacturing issues; and coordinates with Design and Release activities. The position develops tooling and facilities based on product and process requirements, prepares formal assembly process instructions in the VPS system, and leads assembly tooling specification, purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. The engineer tracks tooling and process issues through closure and meets launch exit criteria such as cycle time, throughput, and workstation readiness. Other work includes preparing management presentations, driving quality, cost, and labor improvements, delivering dimensionally in-spec parts, developing cycle line layouts, and coordinating with assembly plants to ensure operator and equipment workstations are ready for launch. The role supports new-model launches and requires willingness to travel to North American assembly plants in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Travel may include co-location at an assembly plant for nine or more months, depending on the scale of the vehicle launch, and may reach 40–50%. Launch work involves extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment. The position also requires working within timing constraints and stressful situations, often with minimal direct supervision. This is a hybrid position. Candidates within commuting distance of a Ford hub location may be required to work onsite four or more days per week. The role is salary grade 5–8, with a listed salary range of $63,480–$162,120. Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Ford offers medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; family care and parental leave programs; family-building benefits; employee and family vehicle discounts and management leases; tuition assistance; employee resource groups; paid community service time; paid holidays; paid time off; and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
