About The Position

Applied Materials’ Manufacturing Engineering Department is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op for the Spring 2027 term. The role provides hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly and modular testing in a cleanroom environment. The co-op is scheduled to run from January 11, 2027, through July 2, 2027, onsite at the company’s Billerica, Massachusetts location.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Good academic standing, with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and willingness to learn new skills.

Nice To Haves

• Engineering experience in a development or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with build and test technicians to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Conduct time studies on build and test lines.
• Lead small manufacturing process improvement projects.
• Develop and update operation method sequences (OMSs).
• Support manufacturing engineering with part-defect root cause analysis and processing.
