About The Position

The Manufacturing Associate advances production for customer applications at GE Aerospace’s Vandalia facility, primarily working in one or more production areas according to business needs. The facility manufactures and services power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for military and commercial customers, and includes a product development lab where operators and engineers collaborate. The role may involve building electrical harness assemblies and controllers; following procedures, specifications, and instructions; measuring components; using hand and pneumatic tools; assembling components with fasteners; soldering and brazing; potting, coating, and cleaning components; mixing varnishes or paint and measuring viscosity; and performing basic arithmetic. The associate must follow EHS guidelines, including wearing required PPE. General site upkeep may also include janitorial duties, moving furniture, groundskeeping, and other general labor. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds without repetition, and sometimes lift more than 35 pounds with assistance. Work may take place in areas with moderate noise (85–89.9 dBs), where hearing protection is required, and areas where normal machining operations may produce dust, fumes, or smoke within OSHA permissible exposure levels. Access to U.S. export-controlled information requires the employee to establish qualifying U.S. Person status. Employment is contingent on legal authorization to work in the United States and successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable. Employees may also be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
