About The Position

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Team Manager is responsible for the coordination, technical leadership and performance of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians and for the delivery of the team’s projects. The team works in project mode, contributing to the continuous improvement, optimization of manufacturing processes and the implementation of innovative solutions for the production of high power transformers. The team provides support to the manufacturing operations of the site in Varennes. The person plays a key role in process optimization, continuous improvement, industrialization of new products and achieving safety, quality, cost, lead time and sustainability objectives.

Requirements

  • University degree in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing or equivalent engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • 10-15 years of relevant manufacturing experience, including 2-3 years of relevant technical team management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, continuous improvement and project management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Mastery of project management tools and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Bilingualism (French/English).

Responsibilities

  • Structure, manage, supervise, motivate and develop a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Ensure production productivity optimization in terms of safety, quality and efficiency while aligning with operational objectives
  • Ensure resource planning, project prioritization and workload balancing
  • Monitor team project deliverables, timelines and budgets
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the plant development and improvement plan and continuous improvement strategies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Work closely with the teams (health, safety and environment, quality, production, maintenance, etc.) to ensure the effective integration of the proposed solutions.
  • Work with a strong focus on results, implementing performance indicators to monitor results.
  • Give visibility to the team’s projects to stakeholders
  • Be an agent of change and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation and problem solving.
  • Train and develop the skills of your team.
  • Perform performance reviews, coaching, skills development and succession
  • Occasionally, the manager may also be called upon to carry out technical projects and contribute directly to certain technical projects according to operational priorities and needs.
  • Have a customer approach and anticipate potential risks and challenges in team projects, and implement preventive measures to ensure their success.
  • Provide assistance to the team to unlock issues.
  • Plan and allocate resources according to the needs of ongoing projects.
  • Perform any other related tasks requested by the line manager.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
