Manager Systems Design Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•Folsom, CA

About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a Manager Systems Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, using knowledge of electronic theory. The role defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, and input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. It works across emulation and validation to define holistic, optimized test strategies and plans, ensuring functional correctness, electrical compliance and margins, and customer use-case enablement. The position collaborates with development, manufacturing, and business leads across the company to deliver high-quality products at competitive costs and on schedule. It participates in technical projects involving solution architecture, custom development, applications engineering, and technical training. The role provides technical leadership from pre-silicon planning and emulation through initial power-on, post-silicon execution, and customer launch. It derives test requirements and strategies with silicon, hardware, and firmware/software teams, guides test planning, leads complex debugging, and steers a virtual taskforce through customer problem resolution. The role also guides teams in defining test content, execution strategy, cluster debug tools, and reporting results and strategy. It conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes; identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses; and evaluates process flows from high-level designs through synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. It applies engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD products.
