The branch works to support students, parents, teachers, and administrators across Kindergarten to Grade 12 by helping ensure educators have access to resources that support effective teaching and meaningful student learning. Requirements

  • University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by three years related experience.
  • Experience leading complex projects, initiatives, or operational priorities.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or coordinating team members.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Project Management Skills with experience working on multiple high priority items simultaneously.
  • Experience developing or improving operational processes, guidelines, or support documents.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefing and advice preparation.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a complex environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in K-12 education, curriculum implementation, or learning resource development.
  • Knowledge of Alberta’s curriculum, education system, or related policy frameworks and legislation.
  • Experience with digital learning platforms, resource collections, or online content delivery.
  • Experience using data, feedback, or performance measures to inform planning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the Strategic Operations team in support of branch priorities and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic leadership for learning and teaching resources processes that support successful piloting and implementation of new curriculum.
  • Lead and coordinate complex projects that support curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance learning and teaching resource priorities.
  • Provide objective and strategic advice on sector processes and policies related to learning and teaching resources.
  • Ensure high-quality learning and teaching resources are available to the K-12 school system.
  • Support alignment of resources with key policy documents, including the Ministerial Order on Student Learning and The Guiding Framework.
  • Lead the design and delivery of professional learning for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a digital collection of K-12 learning and teaching resources.
  • Provide strategic leadership in developing support documents and guides that clarify roles, responsibilities, and processes.
  • Ensure learning and teaching resources reflect curriculum priorities, including literacy, numeracy, and competencies.
  • Support the director in achieving branch goals and advancing strategic operational priorities.
