About The Position

League’s social channels span numerous platforms and services to support players all across the globe. They’re the primary communication method with our highly engaged players, supporting product releases, updates, community feedback, and, obviously, memes. As the Manager of Social Strategy on the League of Legends Publishing Team, you will help set the vision and global strategy across League’s current and new social media channels for games, and esports. You will manage a small team of social media managers who work with nearly every group within League. You’ll help establish goals and processes to produce industry-leading, player-focused content, and you’ll help support our international social teams to ensure content is localized and relevant to players in every region. You have experience managing a team, aren’t afraid to take risks and encourage innovation, and are passionate about League and the broader Riot Games portfolio. You can operate at a strategic level, setting vision and building collaboration. While you have a good eye for creative and copy, you are informed by data, too. You bring enthusiasm to your projects and gain the trust of partners easily. The Manager of Social Strategy for League will report to League’s Editor-in-Chief, collaborate with Riot’s Global Head of Social Media, and work cross-functionally across all of League’s critical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience working in online communities social media, digital marketing, or equivalent
  • Experience overseeing projects from kickoff to execution
  • Knowledgeable about League of Legends, its agents, maps, weapons + abilities, etc.
  • Proficiency with social media analysis and reporting and using tools such as Hootsuite, Talkwalker, and AirTable.
  • Experience working with in-house and agency creative production teams and a strong understanding of balancing the art and science of digital marketing and communications
  • Experience leading with influence and managing teams
  • Experience with social media and community platforms around the world and have developed strategies unique to each (in particular, Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Reddit, YouTube, Discord, WhatsApp, and Twitch)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with League IP and audiences
  • Familiarity with the League Esports ecosystem (league structure, pro players, teams)
  • Experience with developing strategies to localize campaigns for audiences around the globe

Responsibilities

  • Develop the social strategy and playbooks that embody League’s product vision and tone, specific to the unique needs of our players and fans across game, esports, and entertainment
  • Work in partnership with teams in game development and publishing to provide compelling campaign strategies that help support their goals
  • Monitor performance metrics to help guide social strategy and improve performance, and drive communication with internal partners to increase understanding of campaign performance
  • Monitor team infrastructure and support their daily activities to build a solid foundation for ongoing work
  • Serve as the social media subject matter expert for large, cross-functional executive-level projects
  • Mentor and motivate the League social media team’s personal and professional growth
  • Manage cross-functional processes and external agency relationships
