About The Position

This role supports and manages FMI research & insights initiatives on key industry issues and topics that are strategic and operational in nature. The position involves analyzing and disseminating data and industry insights to FMI members, associate members, industry stakeholders, and the general public. The Manager will assist with the management of FMI’s research & insights strategy through various projects, programs, and studies. This role collaborates with the Vice President, Research & Insights, and other teams (Marketing, Communications, Industry Relations, Government Relations, and Membership) to ensure FMI provides cutting-edge, forward-thinking, relevant, and actionable research and insights to meet the needs of the membership, the association, and the industry.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, statistical applications, and data tabulation.
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Survey Monkey, Qualtrics and SPSS (or other data processing software).
  • Experience utilizing database software to maintain information and records to maximize efficiency.
  • Strong writing skills with an emphasis on proofreading and copyediting.
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with strict attention to detail and with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in-person, in writing and over the telephone.
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Personal qualities must include attention to detail, flexibility, and open-mindedness.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in business, economics, psychology or sociology (preferred).
  • Previous work in a Research department is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support and manage research projects, including working with internal stakeholders and outside vendors.
  • Manage the development and review of survey instruments.
  • Manage and review data collection, including programming and sample management of surveys.
  • Conduct data cleaning, tabulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Conduct data analysis of survey data and secondary data (e.g., Circana, NIQ, etc.).
  • Prepare, proof, and edit reports, presentations, and webinars for distribution and publication.
  • Support co-branded FMI research projects, including signature research like “Trends” and “Speaks”, the “Power Of” series, and other research projects.
  • Compile, manage, and track budget information.
  • Assist with the FMI Research & Insights Committee (RIC), enlisting and promoting their participation in activities as needed.
  • Develop research updates to communicate key research available to FMI staff and members.
  • Support departmental and organizational communication outreach efforts (e.g., infographics, webinar descriptions and set-up, creating and sending e-blasts and e-newsletters, member mailings, etc.).
  • Respond appropriately to internal and external (e.g., members, media, etc.) information requests and ensure inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Research and provide background information on specific topics.
  • Manage FMI research, programs, and campaigns.
  • Catalog research reports, compiling them into a database.
  • Provide other project and office management support.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
