Fortune Brands•San Francisco, CA
•$120,000 - $180,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Fortune Brands Innovations is hiring a Manager, Product Integrity to lead the Product Integrity team within Connected Products. The team confirms that connected products—including Flo by Moen water devices, Yale and August smart locks, and Master Lock connected padlocks—meet their requirements before reaching customers. The role connects requirements to proof by translating inputs from Product, Systems Architecture, and Compliance into tests with defined methods, sample sizes, and pass/fail criteria. The position leads hardware testing across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains, including systems integration, test execution, reliability testing, quality inspection, and production testing. It owns 100% end-of-line factory testing, including the design of test fixtures and test software. Fixtures may be built in-house or developed with a supplier, depending on complexity. The role is hybrid and may be based in North Olmsted, Ohio, or San Francisco, California. Remote days are Monday and Friday. The team’s lab is in North Olmsted. Employees based in San Francisco should expect occasional travel to North Olmsted. Travel is approximately 15%, including trips to factories in Nogales and Tecate, Mexico, Hanoi, Vietnam, and between North Olmsted and San Francisco.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with connected consumer hardware spanning electrical, mechanical, and firmware.
  • Experience developing factory test fixtures at both board level and end of line.
  • Experience writing requirements and verification and validation (V&V) plans.
  • Reliability engineering fluency, including accelerated life testing, Weibull and AFR calculations, sample sizing at a stated confidence level, HALT/HASS, thermal, drop, and cycle-life testing.
  • Ability to design reliability test plans and interpret failures.
  • Production test experience with fixtures, test software, design for test (DFT), cycle time, and yield at a contract manufacturer.
  • Experience leading a small technical team and setting direction for hands-on test engineers.
  • Broad understanding of connected products across electrical, mechanical, and firmware disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Battery power model development.
  • Experience with sensor products requiring calibration and drift management.
  • Experience with sealed or outdoor enclosures.
  • RF performance characterization.
  • Certification knowledge across safety (UL), RF (FCC), and interoperability (Matter/CSA); NSF/IAPMO for water products or BHMA for locks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Product Integrity team of test engineers covering production and 100% testing, hardware testing, reliability testing, quality inspection, and confirmation of product requirements.
  • Set the direction and standards for the team.
  • Translate hardware requirements in product requirements documents from Product, Systems Architecture, and Compliance into testable requirements with test methods, sample sizes, acceptance criteria, and gates.
  • Provide evidence packages for each EVT, DVT, and PVT stage gate, documenting what was tested, against which requirements, and with what results.
  • Define reliability test plans for each program and own the associated statistical approach, including sample sizes, confidence levels, and environmental test acceleration factors.
  • Develop production test fixtures and test software that meet approved cycle times, with test limits tied to expected field performance.
  • Review returns and field data and feed findings back into requirements and test plans.
  • Lead and operate the lab that validates product requirements.

Benefits

  • Annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
  • Comprehensive health plans.
  • 401(k) program with a company contribution.
