About The Position

Total Wine & More is seeking a Manager, Performance Management to join its Human Resources team in Bethesda, MD. This role will lead and continuously improve the company’s enterprise-wide performance management processes across both the Store Support Center (SSC) and field organization. This role will be within the Learning & Development team and serve as the primary owner of the company’s performance cycle, ensuring programs, tools, timelines, communications, and leader enablement efforts drive a high-performance culture aligned to business objectives. This individual contributor role requires strong cross-functional partnership, project management, change management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence leaders at all levels of the organization. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Talent, Culture & Impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or related functions.
  • 3+ years of experience directly managing or supporting enterprise performance management programs and cycles.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex, enterprise-wide initiatives across multiple stakeholders and timelines.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience leveraging data to drive insights and decision-making.
  • Experience partnering with HRIS systems, preferably Workday performance management functionality.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and process orientation.
  • Experience supporting both corporate and field-based employee populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end enterprise performance management cycle, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, annual reviews, calibration sessions, and talent planning activities for SSC and field populations.
  • Build and execute strategic project plans, timelines, communications, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that support performance management and leadership development programs across the organization.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts for performance management processes, learning initiatives, tools, and resources to enhance employee engagement, leader effectiveness, and organizational outcomes.
  • Analyze performance data, talent metrics, participation trends, and employee feedback to identify opportunities, provide actionable insights, and recommend scalable process enhancements.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and Talent teams to align talent review outcomes with succession planning, leadership readiness, and individual development priorities.
  • Spearhead initiatives focused on strengthening the enterprise talent pipeline by supporting readiness planning, leadership capability development, and execution of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for high-potential talent.
  • Collaborate with HR technology and systems teams to optimize Workday performance management functionality, reporting capabilities, and system enhancements that improve operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Develop and facilitate manager enablement programs, training resources, and coaching materials focused on effective feedback delivery, performance conversations, employee development, and accountability across teams.
