Manager of Development & Communications
About The Position
ReDiscover is seeking a Manager of Development & Communications to lead fundraising, communications, and business marketing efforts for its mission-driven community mental health organization serving southeastern Jackson County, Missouri. The role connects the organization with the community, builds partnerships, and shares stories that support awareness of ReDiscover’s services and expand access to care. The manager oversees digital communications and media relations, marketing materials, fundraising campaigns and events, donor stewardship, grant research, and consistent brand messaging. The position collaborates with clinical programs and leadership, supervises and mentors the development team, and ensures deliverables are accurate and timely. The role also requires managing competing priorities while following organizational policies, healthcare laws, accreditation standards, and ethical practices. Duties may be adjusted to address unforeseen demands.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, a related field, or an equivalent discipline from an accredited university.
- At least four years of relevant experience in development and communications.
- At least two years of experience managing a team.
- A record of successfully obtaining large grants and improving donor development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing articles and press releases and speaking publicly.
- Ability to create and execute strategic communication plans.
- Proficiency with social media and online platforms.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
- Knowledge of project and portfolio management platforms and familiarity with online portals and grant-tracking software.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel, and email.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and compliance with ReDiscover’s safe-driving standards and agency driving criteria, including proof of liability insurance and access to a functional vehicle; requirements must be maintained in accordance with ReDiscover policy.

Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive fundraising, communications, and business marketing plans.
- Oversee social media, the website, email, and the internal SharePoint site.
- Manage media relations, design marketing collateral, and monitor the organization’s online reputation.
- Lead annual giving campaigns and fundraising events, support donor stewardship, and identify and research competitive grant opportunities.
- Maintain consistent messaging across platforms and direct photo and video coverage at public and community events.
- Collaborate with clinical programs and leadership to align development goals with frontline healthcare needs.
- Supervise and mentor the development team and ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
- Prioritize complex workflows under tight deadlines while complying with organizational policies, healthcare laws, accreditation standards, and ethical practices.
- Adjust work priorities and duties as needed to meet unforeseen demands.
