About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is looking for an experienced Manager, Network & Unified Communications to lead the engineering and operations of enterprise networking and unified communications across Nebraska Medicine and UNMC. This is an opportunity to lead highly technical teams responsible for the connectivity and communication services that support patient care, education, research, and critical business operations across a complex, multi-site environment. In this role, you’ll balance 24/7 operational reliability with modernization and long-term strategy, leading efforts across enterprise networking, wireless, SD-WAN, data center and cloud connectivity, VoIP, collaboration, and contact center technologies. You’ll partner closely with Information Security, Platform Engineering, Data Center Operations, clinical and academic stakeholders, vendors, and IT leadership to strengthen resiliency, reduce technical debt, and build the digital foundation for the future. Requirements

Minimum of 10 years progressive network/voice engineering experience, including large, complex, multi‑site environments required.
Minimum of 3 years leading technical teams with 24×7 operational accountability required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience required.
Hands‑on expertise with enterprise routing/switching, wireless, SD‑WAN, load‑balancing, DNS/DHCP, SIP trunking, QoS, and UC/collaboration required.
Experience with contact center platforms and call‑flow/IVR design required.
Demonstrated mastery of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem) and service reporting required.
Strong vendor management and budgeting experience required.
Candidate must live in Nebraska or Iowa

Nice To Haves

Healthcare delivery organization experience and familiarity with clinical communications preferred.
Certifications: CCNP/CCIE (or equivalent vendor certs), Cisco Collaboration/Voice, Palo Alto, ITIL, PMP preferred.
Cloud networking: Azure VNets/VWAN, AWS VPC/Transit Gateway, hybrid connectivity preferred.
Zero Trust segmentation, micro‑segmentation, NAC, and network automation (IaC/APIs) preferred.
Cisco collaboration/voice certifications
CCNP/CCIE or equivalent networking certifications
Palo Alto, ITIL, or PMP experience
Cloud networking experience with Azure, AWS, hybrid connectivity, segmentation, or automation.

Responsibilities

Leads the engineering and operations of enterprise data networking and unified communications across Nebraska Medicine and UNMC.
Owns the strategy, reliability, and lifecycle of LAN/WAN, wireless, data center and cloud networking, VoIP, collaboration platforms, and contact center technologies.
Ensures secure, resilient connectivity and communication services that enable patient care, education, and research.
