About The Position

DP World is seeking a highly driven Inventory / Materials Manager to help launch and lead a large-scale, fast-paced distribution operation in Moreno Valley, CA. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a startup leadership team building operational excellence from the ground up in a 24/7 environment supporting rapid growth and peak season operations. This operation will support approximately 400 employees during steady state, scaling up to 1,000 employees during peak season, making this an exciting opportunity for a leader who thrives in high-volume, high-visibility environments. As the Inventory / Materials Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and inventory control execution across the operation. You will partner closely with Operations, Quality, Transportation, Engineering, and Customer teams to drive world-class performance. The role involves managing the daily activities of a logistics operation to maximize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer, interfacing with customers to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence, enacting contingency plans, escalating issues, and reviewing performance results. The manager will provide effective leadership to Warehouse Managers and/or teams, enforcing company standards and acting as a role model. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience leading inventory, materials, or warehouse operations within a high-volume distribution, fulfillment, logistics, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory control processes, root cause analysis, cycle counts, and warehouse systems
  • Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, multi-shift operations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and partner effectively across Operations, HR, Safety, Quality, and Customer teams
  • Experience with WMS systems, KPI reporting, and inventory analytics
  • Comfortable working in a highly visible onsite leadership role within a 24/7 operation
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write documents using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and customer.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting startup operations, large-scale ramp-ups, or peak season environments preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Progressive experience performing professional level operational and plant management duties; preferably in automotive or logistics industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all inventory control and materials management functions within a large-scale warehouse operation
  • Develop and execute inventory strategies that support operational growth, customer expectations, and peak season readiness
  • Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counting, audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve inventory discrepancies, process gaps, and operational challenges
  • Analyze KPIs and operational data to identify trends and implement process improvements
  • Lead, coach, and develop inventory and materials teams across multiple shifts in a 24/7 operation
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, SOPs, quality standards, and safety expectations
  • Support startup launch activities including process development, staffing support, layout optimization, and systems implementation
  • Create a culture focused on accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Partner with leadership teams during peak season planning and execution to ensure operational readiness
  • Manage the daily activities of a logistics operation to maximize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer.
  • Interface with customer to ensure smooth -coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence; provides input on local conditions, identifies needs and receives direction on real-time staffing increases or decreases.
  • Enact contingency plans as needed; escalate and direct activities during system problems, disasters, etc.; identify potential problems, troubleshoot, escalate issues to local and senior management, and participate in post-mortem analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements.
  • Review ongoing performance results to targets. Take corrective measures with authorization, escalate as needed
  • Responsible for providing effective leadership to the Warehouse Managers and/or team, enforcing company standards, act as a role model.
