About The Position

The Materials & Inventory Technician is responsible for managing equipment, materials, and supplies. This role involves receiving, ordering, issuing, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The technician will ensure stock levels are appropriate, process requisitions, and verify the accuracy of data entered into the computer system. Responsibilities include checking the condition and specifications of received shipments, operating a forklift for material handling, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of warehouse and yard areas. The position also involves performing preventive maintenance, preparing meeting rooms, delivering mail and packages, fueling company vehicles, and managing recycled materials. The role may require participation in audits, supplier evaluations, and potentially emergency call-ins or on-call rotations. Continuous learning through training and workshops is encouraged to enhance job knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to receive, order, and issue equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Proficiency in reviewing requisitions, checking stock levels, and maintaining inventory records.
  • Skill in verifying codes, descriptions, quantities, and checking for damage in shipments.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Ability to maintain warehouse and yard areas clean and organized.
  • Capability to perform preventive maintenance checks.
  • Ability to deliver interoffice mail and packages.
  • Experience fueling company vehicles.
  • Ability to manage recycled materials.

  • Ability to conduct spot checks and cycle counts.
  • Skill in marking and coding inventory items.
  • Ability to obtain signatures for receipt of items.
  • Capability to organize and store parts and materials.
  • Ability to prepare and break down meeting rooms.
  • Willingness to participate in accuracy audits/counts.
  • Willingness to conduct warehouse supplier evaluations.
  • Availability for emergency call-in and "on-call" rotation.
  • Willingness to attend meetings, training, and workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, orders, and issues equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Reviews requisitions, checks stock levels, and maintains records of inventory.
  • Verifies codes, descriptions, and quantities of received shipments, checking for damage and ensuring specifications are met.
  • Operates a forklift to load, unload, remove, and store equipment, materials, or supplies.
  • Picks up and delivers parts, tools, and equipment, and maintains the yard.
  • Enters and updates inventory data and status using an on-line computer system.
  • Conducts spot checks and scheduled cycle counts to verify inventory on hand.
  • Marks and codes equipment, materials, and supplies for inventory control.
  • Updates inventory daily, entering issuances and returns, and obtaining signatures for receipt.
  • Maintains warehouse and yard areas clean, including sweeping floors, cleaning docks, disposing of waste, and managing recyclable materials.
  • Stocks and maintains janitorial closets.
  • Organizes and stores fittings and parts according to size, type, and code number.
  • Performs preventive maintenance checks and moves materials.
  • Prepares and breaks down meeting rooms as needed.
  • Delivers, sorts, and tracks interoffice mail and packages, maintaining proof of delivery.
  • Fuels company vehicles as necessary.
  • Removes and maintains recycled materials.
  • Manages surplus building materials and orders needed inventory.
  • Receives purchase orders.
  • Keys inventory issuances into the system and monitors and issues inventory.
  • Participates in accuracy audits/counts.
  • Conducts warehouse supplier evaluations.
  • May be subject to emergency call-in and “on-call” rotation.
  • Attends meetings, training, and workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so.
