About The Position

Harborview Medical Center Environmental Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager Hospital Custodian. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations for one of Harborview Medical Center’s largest departments, overseeing Environmental Services functions including cleaning and disinfection, waste management, linen services, integrated pest management, and room setup. The position supports specialized patient care areas such as Operating Rooms (OR), ICUs, patient care floors, and the Emergency Department (ED). The Manager will develop and implement efficient operational processes and Environmental Services best practices, collaborating with hospital leaders, staff, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity and quality of services.

Requirements

Business Administration degree or related field equivalent
Three to four years of management experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
Equivalent education and experience may substitute for required qualifications

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day EVS operations to ensure the operational needs of the hospital are met
Oversee cleaning and disinfection, waste management, linen services, integrated pest management, and room setup
Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, and environmental services standards and regulations
Partner with hospital leaders to coordinate EVS activities, schedules, priorities, and service expectations
Assist the Director with operational plans, budgets, policies, procedures, and department strategies
Manage staffing, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action
Plan, assign, and oversee the work of supervisors and other direct reports
Monitor department performance and implement best practices to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and patient care
