About The Position

Tao Group Hospitality is seeking a Manager, Event Sales Business Development to drive new net business for the event sales team across the NY Hotels portfolio. This role has an annual sales goal of $2.5 million in newly booked net revenue. The position focuses on outbound prospecting, pipeline development, and new client acquisition for private events, buyouts, and large group dining, with the objective of converting untapped corporate, agency, and industry demand into booked revenue. This is a hunter role where success is measured by self-generated pipeline, conversion rates, and net new revenue delivered to venue event sales teams.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of business development, event sales, hospitality sales, agency sales, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success meeting a new-business revenue quota.
  • Experience with cold outreach and executive-level prospecting.
  • Strong pipeline management and closing skills.
  • CRM proficiency.
  • Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office, POS systems, Oracle knowledge preferred.
  • 21+ years of age.
  • Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have good positive energy throughout the day.
  • Must be able to read the computer monitors and print legibly.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move quickly through work and set the pace in the office.
  • Must be able to push and lift up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year associate degree (60 credit hours) in Hospitality, Business etc. or equivalent work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generates net new event sales revenue through proactive outbound prospecting across corporate clients, agencies, sports and entertainment properties, financial services firms, and other high-value areas for opportunity.
  • Achieves an annual sales goal of $2.5 million in net new booked event revenue; performance and commission eligibility are measured against this target.
  • Works closely with the VP of CRM to verify that all credited business is entirely net new and identify areas for improvement/gaps in our business.
  • Conducts cold and warm outreach via phone, email, social channels, and in-person networking.
  • Represents the full NYC portfolio, cross-selling venues to match client needs with the right venue and format.
  • Drives opportunities through to contract, passing all necessary information to event sales team to form tailored proposals and pricing.
  • Hosts site visits, tastings, and guest entertainment to convert prospects, leverages venue programming and VIP experiences as sales tools.
  • Maintains accurate, current records of all outreaches, pipeline activity, and bookings within the CRM and event sales platforms, reports on activity, conversion, and revenue against goals on a weekly and monthly cadence.
  • Attends industry networking events to build brand presence and source new business relationships.
  • Collaborates with venue event sales managers on seamless handoff and execution of booked business, ensuring service delivery matches what was sold.
  • Monitors market trends, competitor activity, and citywide event calendars (conferences, sporting events, cultural moments) to identify and act on demand opportunities.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of prospecting playbooks, outreach templates, and standard operating procedures for the outbound sales function.
  • Assists with other sales and administrative tasks as needed.
