About The Position

Lead the creation, activation, and evolution of enterprise-wide development experiences that strengthen leadership effectiveness, workforce capability, career growth, and organizational performance. The role applies a strong technology and artificial intelligence mindset to reimagining how development happens across AbbVie, combining creativity, experimentation, business acumen, and digital fluency to identify opportunities and design scalable solutions that accelerate workforce readiness and business performance. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strategic thinking and direct execution. The successful candidate balances vision with action, builds new solutions where none exist, and drives work from concept through implementation and adoption. The role includes leading enterprise initiatives, designing and delivering development experiences, evaluating outcomes, managing projects and suppliers, and communicating recommendations to stakeholders and leadership audiences.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience.
Proven leadership in large-scale initiatives.
Superior verbal and written communication skills, including editing.
Expertise in project management.
Proficiency in Adobe Suite, MS Office Suite, Publisher, and other software as required.
Expert-level skills in WebEx and other virtual meeting software, and OneDrive or similar shared-drive technologies.
Proven instructional design skills.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team player, influence without authority, and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

Identify emerging workforce capability needs and translate them into practical development solutions that prepare the organization for future business challenges, evolving roles, and changing market demands.
Lead enterprise-wide development initiatives that support organizational priorities, workforce capability needs, leadership effectiveness, and employee growth.
Coordinate efforts across Learning & Development and cross-functional partners to align around a common enterprise approach.
Scan internal and external trends, identify opportunities for innovation, and champion approaches that improve development effectiveness, increase adoption, and strengthen organizational capability.
Drive key initiatives from concept to implementation, including developing solutions and content, facilitating working sessions, managing pilots, building stakeholder alignment, and translating ideas into business outcomes.
Develop content for virtual, in-person, and digital experiences, including learning resources, implementation materials, communications, and performance support tools.
Apply adult learning principles and consult with subject matter experts and stakeholders to address capability needs.
Ensure development experiences are relevant, effective, aligned with business priorities, and grounded in clear measures of success.
Evaluate outcomes and continuously improve solutions based on feedback and performance data.
Lead project plans and execution from design through evaluation; coordinate resources, suppliers, communications, timelines, and implementation activities.
Prepare and deliver clear, concise, influential communications, updates, recommendations, and presentations for stakeholders and leadership audiences.
Communicate project status, outcomes, and strategic recommendations across all levels of the organization.
Manage external learning providers, facilitators, content partners, and consultants, including contracts, statements of work, budgets, invoices, and performance, to ensure quality delivery and strong return on investment.
