Requirements

  • BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp.
  • Significant direct experience in the field of digital and VHDL engineering.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and be able to work independently and within groups.
  • Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
  • Working knowledge of the engineering development process, VHDL design and verification.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to work on site at the Rancho Carmel facility.

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field, with 8 or more years of technical experience.
  • Current staffing on a program within the Communications Solutions (CS) Business Unit (BU)
  • Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader
  • Experience with VHDL design or advanced verification for FPGAs
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx series including Versal, Zynq, Kintex, Ultrascale family of devices.
  • Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools: Vivado, Quartus, QuestaSim
  • Knowledgeable in FPGA physical constraints and achieving timing closure.
  • Generation of Test benches and support of formal VHDL Verification.
  • Experience with board RO system level debug using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with translating systems requirements into programmable logic requirements, design documents, and test specifications.
  • Hands on experience with DoD communications systems
  • Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership (IPT lead)
  • Current direct program duties within the F-35, AC, or SF3C Operating Units.
  • Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities
  • Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance
  • DOD Top Secret and SAR highly preferred
  • Knowledge of F-35 and F-22 communications systems and associated waveforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead a section of approximately 10-15 digital/VHDL engineers working within the San Diego Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) department.
  • Lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with programs for staffing, recruiting, training.
  • Prepare and deliver performance reviews to employees.
  • Evaluate/recommend employees for promotions.
  • Evaluate salaries and coordinate with Human Resources on potential adjustments.
  • Assist employees in preparing performance goals.
  • Provide career guidance to employees and counsel employees on their performance as necessary.
  • Support and be accountable for goals including cultivating an inclusive and engaging workplace and ensuring employees’ work life balance is appropriate.
  • Maintain staff adequate to execute to program plans, as well as for strategic growth.
  • Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work.
  • On an ongoing basis engage with staff to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, etc.
  • Execute to the Enterprise review cycle.
  • Manage compensation and career progression.
  • Support the creation, updating, and maintenance of digital engineering processes.
  • Be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs involving communications systems within our F-35, F-22, CNI Production, Advanced Communications, or Small Forms Factors operating units (OU), representing our Engineering and Sciences organization.
