About The Position

The Manager, Data Center Operations oversees operations for one data center or a small region containing multiple data centers. The role aligns operations with department goals and reports to upper management, leading performance evaluation, capacity analysis, issue resolution, cross-functional collaboration, and team development. It manages support for escalated technical problems and establishes standardized processes and incident management protocols. The manager supports new data center builds and expansions, serving as a liaison with project teams and data center engineering to coordinate timelines and capacity needs. The role oversees installations, repairs, inventory, logistics, and implementation of standards, while developing maintenance strategies and advising on upgrades to promote efficiency and stability. This is an onsite role based in Abilene, Texas.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Data Center Operations team at one data center or across a small region containing multiple data centers.
Align operations with department goals, report to upper management, and lead performance evaluation and improvement efforts.
Oversee analysis of physical, power, and cooling capacity and ensure issues are resolved proactively.
Promote cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement, and mentor team members.
Manage teams supporting escalated and complex technical issues.
Define issue-triage strategies and use automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools to prevent potential problems.
Document and standardize issues, processes, and solutions for the data center knowledge base.
Coach team members on incident and crisis management protocols aligned with business continuity plans; support root cause analyses and update documentation after incidents.
Direct support for new region builds and expansion activities, both onsite and remotely.
Liaise with project teams and data center engineering to manage timelines and capacity needs across expansion projects and site builds.
Oversee implementation of standards in expansion projects and site builds.
Manage teams responsible for data center installations, repairs, inventory management, and logistics.
Develop processes and guidelines for component replacements and upgrades, and provide strategic input on purchases and upgrades.
Oversee rack deployments, installations, and network infrastructure upgrades or changes.
Ensure effective facilities maintenance strategies that support efficiency and stability, including containment, airflow and pressure, and power trains.
Create and execute plans for team work and multiple projects or initiatives; monitor timelines and budgets when applicable, delegate work, prioritize tasks, and adapt plans to changing needs.
Build collaborative partnerships across teams and guide team members in working with business leaders, stakeholders, and customers.
Lead the team in addressing moderately complex operational and technical issues and troubleshooting errors using information from multiple sources.
Pursue learning opportunities, identify team skill gaps, and support training and knowledge-sharing.
Recommend process, protocol, and workflow improvements and review ideas from team members and others.
Coach and direct team members, facilitate goal-setting, identify development opportunities, and contribute to talent acquisition through interviews and talent-resource management.
