About The Position

Capital One is seeking a Data Analyst to support the Hotels Travel Agency team at Capital One Travel. The role partners with product and engineering teams to define meaningful measures, close tracking gaps, and translate a complex domain into clean, reliable data that the business can trust. It offers ownership of a large, complex data landscape and will help shape the product and business. A key measure of success is making hotels data accessible so that teams across the business can produce accurate analyses without direct support from the hotel team. The position involves building KPI dashboards, conducting analyses to inform decisions and prioritization, developing tracking plans for product launches and A/B tests, troubleshooting tracking and data trends, and working with engineering on a more approachable data model. The analyst will work with large databases, improve data and reporting processes, evaluate products and tests, and consult on production and data-storage systems. The role calls for business-focused problem solving, technical fluency, customer orientation, collaboration, clear communication, comfort with ambiguity, and hands-on use of AI-powered tools to investigate data and code while validating results.

Requirements

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Computer Science) plus at least 6 years of data analytics experience, or a master’s degree plus at least 4 years of data analytics experience; the required degree must be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
  • At least 4 years of professional data analysis experience.
  • At least 4 years of programming experience.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered tools such as Claude Code, Gemini, or similar platforms to investigate data and code repositories, with the ability to challenge and quality-check AI results.
  • Ability to use data analysis skills, including SQL, to pull and transform raw data while addressing data quality issues.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, business-context, customer-focused, and ambiguity-navigation skills.

  • At least 1 year of project management experience.
  • At least 1 year of Tableau experience.
  • Proficiency utilizing and developing within AWS services.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define KPIs and build dashboards that track progress against goals.
  • Conduct ad hoc deep-dive analyses to support decision-making and prioritization, including analyses of customer behavior, technical questions, and business impact.
  • Develop tracking plans and dashboards to measure new product launches and monitor A/B tests.
  • Partner with Product to design clean A/B tests that can run in parallel.
  • Troubleshoot tracking issues and concerning data trends.
  • Work with Engineering to develop a plan for a more approachable data model.
  • Maintain clean, usable data for answering complex business questions.

  • Work with large and complex databases containing millions to billions of records.
  • Improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
