Manager, Convening Event Experiences

The Nielsen Company•New York, NY
•$86,020 - $143,440

About The Position

The Manager, Convening runs Nielsen’s always-on client engagement calendar, primarily in New York. The role delivers recurring client-facing experiences—including a monthly sports series, cultural and awards moments, and programming at the Media Intelligence Lab at Nielsen’s New York headquarters. It owns delivery of these events to a consistently high standard and within budget, without the flagship-level production apparatus used for larger events. Working closely with the Director, Convening Experiences, Global Client & Sales Leadership, Communications, and Creative, the Manager turns Nielsen’s presence into a year-round client engagement asset. The position is hands-on and includes planning, vendor and venue coordination, guest management, on-site event leadership, operations, reporting, and budget tracking.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in event management, client hospitality, or experiential marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering a recurring calendar of events, not only one-off productions.
  • Strong New York venue, catering, and production vendor network, with working knowledge of the New York event landscape.
  • Hands-on production capability, including comfort working on-site and solving problems in real time.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple concurrent events, budgets, and guest lists accurately.
  • Confident, polished presence with senior client guests and internal executives.
  • Experience with event registration, RSVP, and CRM tools.
  • Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends around the sports and awards calendar.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Hospitality, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in a B2B or client-facing corporate environment.

  • Deliver Nielsen’s client-facing presence at cultural and awards moments, coordinating with Brand, Communications, and Creative to align each event with a current Nielsen narrative.
  • Own day-to-day programming, scheduling, and client tours of the Media Intelligence Lab; maintain the experience, coordinate content refreshes, and make the Lab a standard stop for visiting clients.
  • Build and manage guest lists with Sales and account teams; run invitations and RSVPs, track attendance and conversion, and maintain accurate records for follow-up and reporting.
  • Source and manage venues, caterers, AV, and production vendors; negotiate within delegated thresholds, manage contracts and insurance requirements, and maintain a preferred supplier list.
  • Lead on-site delivery for the always-on portfolio, including setup, run of show, staffing, client hosting, and teardown; represent Nielsen credibly to senior client guests.
  • Maintain the always-on calendar, budget tracker, and workback plans; report on attendance, guest feedback, and cost per attendee, and build repeatable playbooks.
  • Manage spending for the always-on portfolio against plan, flag variances early, and identify efficiencies across recurring formats.
