About The Position

The Manager of Content Operations manages the day-to-day delivery, readiness, and availability of PBS general audience video content across PBS-owned and operated and third-party streaming platforms, including PBS.org, PBS apps, and YouTube. The role oversees workflows from producer delivery through quality review and publishing to ongoing library management, supporting both free and paid streaming experiences. Working with other video operations roles, the Manager translates programming schedules, content windowing policies, and platform strategies into operational plans. The role coordinates with PBS Programming, Technology, Digital & Marketing, content management teams, PBS Distribution, and national producers to ensure content and supporting assets are complete, accurate, and available as expected. It also leads process improvements, workflow implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support for livestreams and near-live releases. Some work outside the general Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. hours may be required as needed to accommodate last-minute deliverables ahead of airdate.

  • Understanding of streaming platforms across web, mobile, and connected television, including YouTube publishing tools and operational requirements.
  • Experience applying content rights, windowing restrictions, and platform specifications to distribution workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee video asset versions and supporting materials, including captions, audio tracks, artwork, metadata, and platform-specific edits, ensuring the correct assets reach each destination.
  • Manage operational readiness for premieres, library releases, and new distribution initiatives; identify delivery risks, communicate impacts, and coordinate contingency plans.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures for video, audio, captions, and metadata; coordinate corrections and verify published content meets PBS standards and platform requirements.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, delivery tracking, and streaming availability information across content and digital asset management systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting of failed deliveries, publishing errors, and content availability issues; coordinate resolution, escalate risks, and address recurring causes.
  • Develop and document processes to improve turnaround times, reduce manual work, and clarify responsibilities across Video Operations, Programming, Content Packaging, and platform teams.
