Requirements

  • 7+ of experience in aviation, transportation, or a similarly complex, safety‑critical operating environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role, with demonstrated leadership accountability.
  • Strong operational judgment and decision‑making skills in fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environments.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries.
  • A post‑secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aircraft movement, Stand management, Apron operations, or A‑CDM principles is preferred.
  • Experience leading unionized or multi‑disciplinary frontline teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of safe, orderly, and efficient aircraft flow across GTAA‑controlled Aprons using established policies, procedures, and advisory services.
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A‑CDM) as it relates to Apron operations.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a large frontline team, fostering a high‑performance, inclusive, and safety‑focused work environment.
  • Investigate, manage, and mitigate Apron safety issues through the Safety Management System, including hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Plan and manage staffing, training, and quality control programs for Apron Officers and Specialists.
  • Build strong working relationships with airlines, NAV CANADA, and internal partners to resolve operational issues and improve performance.
  • Develop and manage the unit’s annual operating budget and business plan aligned to GTAA’s corporate strategy.
  • Role‑model GTAA leadership behaviors and drive accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
