Management Trainee
About The Position
The Management Trainee participates in an Operations Management Trainee Program, an intensive 16-week entry-level training program designed to prepare the trainee for an initial leadership or supervisory role in operations. Under the direction of a mentor, the trainee learns transportation industry principles, efficient cross-dock operations, leadership communication, and relationship-building skills. Completion of the program requires relocation to another facility for the trainee’s first leadership role in Operations. The trainee completes guided and independent study and works with Support Center and Service Center associates on daily training activities. The trainee also observes an Account Manager during customer sales calls and occasionally accompanies drivers on local delivery routes to learn about freight delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Logistics, or at least two years of related work experience.
- Acceptable driving history that aligns with company standards.
- Flexibility and readiness to relocate as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening abilities.
- Professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Basic computer skills.
- Very strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Complete the leadership training program, including guided and independent study.
- Interface with Support Center and Service Center associates daily to complete aspects of the training program.
- Accompany and observe an Account Manager during customer sales calls.
- Occasionally accompany drivers on local delivery routes to understand the freight delivery process.
- Relocate to another facility after completing the trainee program for the first leadership role in Operations.
