Management Trainee
About The Position
The Management Trainee participates in an Operations Management Trainee Program, an intensive 16-week entry-level training program designed to prepare the trainee for an initial leadership or supervisory role in operations. Under the direction of a mentor, the trainee learns transportation-industry principles, efficient cross-dock operations, effective leadership communication, and relationship-building skills. Upon completing the program, relocation to another facility is required for the first leadership role in Operations. The trainee completes guided and independent leadership-program study and works with Support Center and Service Center associates on daily training activities. The trainee also observes an Account Manager during customer sales calls and occasionally accompanies drivers on local delivery routes to learn about freight delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Logistics, or at least two years of related work experience.
- Acceptable driving history that aligns with company standards.
- Flexibility and readiness to relocate as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Basic computer skills.
- Very strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Complete the leadership training program, including guided and independent study.
- Interface with Support Center and Service Center associates to complete daily training activities.
- Accompany and observe an Account Manager during customer sales calls.
- Occasionally accompany drivers on local delivery routes to understand the freight delivery process.
